FEATURES
🏰 Mongeard-Mugneret's Echezeaux La Grande Complication Grand Cru 2020 is an exceptional Pinot Noir, reflecting the 【precision and know-how of the greatest masters of watchmaking art, with harmony, power, finesse, and purity】. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy produced very fine wines, often big, dark, and serious, with impressive balance and purity. This Grand Cru offers intense red and black fruits like blackcurrant and raspberry, evolving into sweet notes of spices. Expect a pure, vibrant ruby-garnet color, with a nose that opens with cherries, raspberries, and blackcurrants, shading into vanilla, toast, and smoked nuances from generous new oak. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with succulent fruit, fine but abundant tannins, and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, savory, spicy finish that will develop notes of undergrowth, truffle, and game with age. 🍴 This powerful yet polished Pinot Noir is a superb match for roasted duck, goose, and other game birds. It also pairs wonderfully with roasted red meats and mushroom-based dishes. 🥂 An outstanding choice for special occasions, fine dining, or for collectors of Grand Cru Burgundy. This wine will take time to express itself fully, promising intense emotions over time. Decanting for 2-3 hours is recommended, and serve at 15-17°C (59-63°F).
BACKGROUND
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a winery located in the Burgundy region of France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small amount of Chardonnay also planted. The Mongeard family dates back to 1620. In the 1920s, Eugène Mongeard's marriage to Edmée Mugneret combined their vineyards, expanding the domaine. In 1945, their son Jean began estate-bottling wine under the name Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. At 16, Jean was selling grapes to esteemed producers and, following Henri Gouges' advice, started bottling the wine himself.
