🏰 The 2015 Mugneret Gibourg Vosne Romanée hails from an 【extraordinary and potentially legendary Burgundy vintage】, particularly for red wines. The growing season saw a mild winter and spring, followed by a hot, dry summer with fierce heat spikes, yet welcome rainfall in August provided much-needed relief. The resulting reds are well-structured, intense, and sophisticated with great fruit concentration, often described as rich, powerful, and statuesque, yet underpinned by juicy acidity. This vintage offers wines for the long haul, with serious reserves of ripe tannins.
🍴 This powerful and elegant red Burgundy is a superb match for classic French dishes like roasted game birds (e.g., pheasant or partridge), truffle pasta, or a fine beef tenderloin. For an Asian pairing, consider a delicate Cantonese roast duck or a savory mushroom and abalone dish.
🥂 An ideal choice for a grand celebration, a significant anniversary, or a serious collector's tasting. This wine has excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over many years, but can also be enjoyed now with proper decanting.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg is a French producer of high-quality Pinot Noir located in the Côte de Nuits, famous for its wines from Burgundy's most popular vineyards. The winery was founded in 1933, and in the 1950s small plots of land were purchased to expand the family's vineyards. Incorporated in 2009 as Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg. The most rare and expensive wines of the winery come from the Grand Cru vineyards Ruchottes Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot and Echézeaux, and it also produces Burgundy red wine from multiple Premier Cru vineyards.
