FEATURES
🏰 Domaine Antonin Guyon is a 47-hectare property in Savigny-les-Beaune, operated by Dominique Guyon and his granddaughter Hombeline, focusing on quality and terroir expression. Corton Clos du Roy is a famous red Grand Cru vineyard in Aloxe-Corton, the sole red Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune, with east to south exposures and clay and limestone soil. Domaine Guyon's area for this Grand Cru covers 0.55 hectares (1.36 acres). Grapes are hand-harvested, sorted, and undergo long fermentation (20 days) in wooden open vats, with aging in oak barrels (50% new oak) for 18 months. The 2005 vintage in Burgundy was excellent, considered a "great year" that produced wines with considerable heft, richness, and velvet texture, while remaining elegant and restrained. Wines from this vintage are often described as youthful and built for the long haul, with a balanced core of sap and firm tannins. The 2005 Antonin Guyon Corton Clos du Roy is described as aromatically complex with spicy and ripe, deeply pitched dark fruit and warm earth aromas. On the palate, it offers textured, ripe, sweet, thick, and powerful flavors supported by buried and dense tannins, culminating in a balanced and hugely long finish. It's considered a "wow wine" that is not flashy but has much material, suited for the very patient. Other notes for 2005 Corton Clos du Roy mention a brooding, reserved, and somber nose with black and dark berry fruit aromas, spice, richness, and robust flavors, supported by a balanced core of sap and an extremely firm but not hard core of tannins. 【A "wow wine" from a renowned Grand Cru vineyard in the excellent 2005 vintage, offering immense complexity and longevity】.
