FEATURES
🏰From the renowned Niederhauser Hermannshohle vineyard, the 2018 Donnhoff Riesling GG is a vibrant expression of Nahe's warm vintage, offering a generous profile of yellow fruit and a balanced acidity that promises both immediate enjoyment and excellent aging potential. The 2018 Nahe vintage was warm, early, and generous, with high ripeness. Riesling frequently displays yellow fruit, body, and softer acidity. Good producers retained freshness through cool sites and early picking, making the vintage generally approachable, with top wines having enough substance for further development. Despite concerns about low acidity and high alcohol, many exciting Rieslings were found in Nahe.
🍴 This versatile Riesling pairs wonderfully with a wide range of dishes. Dry styles cut through fatty seafood and sushi, and are excellent with vinaigrette-dressed salads and tangy goat cheese. Off-dry and semi-sweet styles tame the heat of spicy Asian dishes like Thai curries, Szechuan pork, or Indian vindaloo. Medium-bodied off-dry Rieslings pair beautifully with rich pork dishes, roasted duck, and glazed ham. Sweet Rieslings shine alongside fruit-based desserts, apricot tart, or a cheese board with ripe, salty cheeses. It also complements salty, umami-rich foods such as prosciutto, fried chicken, and salted nuts. Consider light, salty cheeses (Feta, Mozzarella), soft, creamy cheeses (Brie), semi-hard cheeses (asiago, Colby, fontina, Monterey Jack, Swiss), and strong blue cheeses (Gorgonzola, Parmesan, Gouda, Stilton, Roquefort). Seafood, fish like salmon or sea bream, shellfish, and crustaceans are also excellent pairings.
🥂 Ideal for a wide array of occasions, from casual gatherings to more formal dinners, this Riesling's versatility and aging potential make it a fantastic choice for any wine lover. Serve chilled, around 8-10 degrees Celsius (46-50 degrees Fahrenheit).
