🏰news | features + short tasting note IN ENGLISH
Jean-Marie Fourrier is highly regarded for his minimalist approach to winemaking, allowing the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin to shine through. The "Vieilles Vignes" (old vines) designation indicates grapes from older, more established vines, which typically produce wines of greater concentration and complexity. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was generally warm and generous, yielding ripe, fruit-forward wines with good structure. This 2018 Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is expected to be a 【rich and expressive Pinot Noir, showcasing the depth of old vines in a warm vintage】. It likely offers intense aromas of ripe red and black cherries, wild berries, forest floor, and subtle earthy or spicy undertones. On the palate, it should be medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, savory finish, reflecting both fruit ripeness and Gevrey's characteristic power.

An excellent choice for a fine dining experience, a special celebration, or a Burgundy-focused tasting. It has good aging potential but can also be enjoyed in its youth for its vibrant fruit.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Fourrier is a well-regarded wine producer based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy's northern Côte de Nuits subregion, France. Its wines mostly made from Pinot Noir. Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family estate in 1994, aged just 23. He worked with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée in the late 1980s. The latter's influence is reflected in the domaine's fastidious approach in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery.
