Anne Gros, Echezeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru, 2021
🏰 The 2021 Anne Gros Echezeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru is a red Burgundy Pinot Noir from a challenging yet rewarding vintage. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was marked by climatic difficulties, but the best producers crafted elegant, seamless wines with pretty, complex, and classic profiles. This Echézeaux Grand Cru is understated and well-defined on the nose, offering brambly red fruit, crushed stone, and touches of pressed flower, with a transparency that is admired. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, elegant and poised, gently building towards a cohesive, harmonious finish. Expect bright red fruit, a little cranberry, cooked down jammy strawberry, and forest floor, with dark fruit and boysenberry in the background. Some tasters note a hint of green tea to the nose of spiced plum, dark pinot, and violet scents. 【 Elegant and poised, showcasing the transparency of a challenging vintage 】. While not built for long-term aging, it will dish out mid-term pleasure and is already showing phenomenal fruit-forward balance.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted poultry like duck or chicken, lighter game birds, mushroom-based dishes, and delicate red meat preparations. Its bright acidity and fine tannins will complement earthy flavors and subtle spices.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a special occasion with discerning guests, or a quiet evening to appreciate a nuanced and expressive Grand Cru Burgundy. It's a wine that rewards patience with decanting if opened young.
