FEATURES
🏰 The 2015 vintage in Burgundy was truly exceptional for red wines, marked by a hot summer that delivered concentration, ripeness, and surprising freshness. It's considered a great red Burgundy vintage, often compared to 2005 for its richness and 2010 for its sensuality, though with stylistic variations. Gevrey-Chambertin, in particular, excelled, with the ripe fruit adding flesh without compromising the appellation's essential red fruit style. Pierre Damoy was noted for thick-skinned grapes, ensuring no significant dilution even after some rains. The wines are deeply coloured and richly structured, built for the long haul, with many top examples benefiting from further cellaring.
This Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 presents a pure scarlet red colour. The bouquet is intensely charming and sweet, with notes of red fruits like cherries and strawberries, complemented by hints of barnyard and herbs. On the palate, it is dry with medium-plus acidity and tannins, offering flavours of cherries, strawberries, tobacco, sweet liquorice, pepper, and vanilla. It shows good complexity and minerality, with a satisfying finish. Critics have noted its polished profile, ripe black cherry, plum, and toasty oak, all wrapped in a velvety texture with ample tannic support and a long, smoky finish.
🍴 This robust red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French dishes such as Coq au Chambertin, Filet de Boeuf à la Truffe, or roasted partridge with Puy lentils.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or a serious wine tasting where its complexity and aging potential can be fully appreciated. 【Pierre Damoy's Gevrey-Chambertin was once ranked equal best with Rousseau's Clos de Bèze in a blind tasting, elevating the domaine to superstar status.】
