Geantet Pansiot, Gevrey Chambertin Le Poissenot 1er Cru, 1990
🏰 Geantet-Pansiot's 1990 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Le Poissenot is a mature and elegant expression of aged 布根地 Pinot Noir from a highly regarded producer. This red wine offers a delightful palate of sweet dried strawberries, complemented by subtle sprinkles of herb and spice, all held together with a nice chew of structure. While not overtly complex, it is juicy, delicious, and nicely interesting, showcasing classic red fruit notes like raspberry and cherry, alongside earthy undertones of forest floor and garrigue. Hints of oak, tobacco, caramel, and dried fruit like prune, with a touch of orange peel and violet, add to its charm.
🍴 This mature Burgundy pairs wonderfully with game, roasted poultry, rich mushroom dishes, or a selection of aged cheeses.
🥂 A rare treat for true Burgundy lovers, perfect for a contemplative evening or a special dinner appreciating the nuances of aged wines. Given its age, it's about time to drink up. Please handle the old cork and capsule with care. Decant carefully to allow any sediment to settle and the wine to open up, serving at a cool cellar temperature.
BACKGROUND
Geantet-Pansiot is a wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. It is famous for its Pinot Noir wines from Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and also produces a variety of Burgundy AOC wines. The estate was founded in 1954 when newlyweds Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot purchased a three-hectare (seven-acre) vineyard on the edge of Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, the vineyards total 13 hectares (32 acres), mainly through agricultural contracts.
