Prieure Roch, Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes, 2023
🏰【The Prieuré Roch Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a nascent expression of natural winemaking artistry, crafted from old Pinot Noir vines in a prestigious Burgundy Premier Cru, promising a pure, sensual, and energetic wine with a complex bouquet of red fruits, earthy nuances, and floral notes, destined for graceful evolution.】 Founded by Henry Frédéric Roch, this iconic domaine is renowned for its uncompromising biodynamic practices and minimal intervention, allowing the true essence of Nuits-Saint-Georges' terroir to shine. This "Vieilles Vignes" (old vines) cuvée is selectively picked from the estate's oldest Pinot Noir vines, often from their monopole Clos des Corvées. While still very young, this 2023 vintage is expected to offer a bright cherry juice color. On the nose, anticipate a complex array of red fruits like raspberry and cherry, intertwined with subtle earthy, mushroom, and floral notes, characteristic of Prieuré Roch's unique style. The palate is expected to be clean, pure-fruited, and energetic, with refreshing acidity and silky tannins, hinting at its potential for depth and elegance.
🍴 This exquisite Burgundy Pinot Noir is a versatile companion for fine dining. It pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roasted duck, game birds, or delicate preparations of lamb and veal. Its earthy and red fruit notes also complement mushroom-based risottos or coq au vin. Consider it with a selection of mild to medium-aged cheeses.
🥂 A rare taste event, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts eager to experience the early stages of a promising vintage from a legendary natural wine producer. While enjoyable in its vibrant youth, this wine is built for long-term cellaring and will gain immense complexity and finesse over the next 5-10+ years. Serve at a cool cellar temperature of around 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decanting is generally not recommended for young, delicate Burgundies, but a brief aeration in the glass can help it open up.
