FEATURES
🏰 The 2015 vintage for Jamet Côte Brune Côte-Rôtie is considered a "blockbuster" year, with some describing it as "Gigantesque, le meilleur côte brune jamais fait" (Gigantic, the best Côte Brune ever made). This makes its 【reputation as potentially the best Côte Brune ever made, a gigantic expression of the 2015 vintage】 its most compelling USP. The wine sports a deep ruby/purple color. It offers beautiful aromas of violets, herbs, and raspberries, alongside ripe dark berries, incense, olive, smoky minerals, and a sexy floral topnote. Expect searing notes of pepper, smoked meats, flowers, and assorted black and blue fruits. There's also a very fresh, fragrant, and savory complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied but initially closed down tight. It boasts a concentrated, thick mid-palate, with sweet yet present tannins, leading to a huge finish. The wine delivers a bold array of rich, ripe, sweetly fruited tannins, with dark chocolate, licorice, and dense spices. It can also present concentrated flavors of pepper, black olives, and bacon, with a stony, mineral character accented by black olives and cured meat. 🍴 This powerful Côte-Rôtie is an excellent companion for roasted meats, especially lamb, beef, and game. It also pairs well with hearty stews, dishes featuring truffles, and strong, aged cheeses. 🥂 While enjoyable now, this wine is considered "much too young" by some and has a "long life ahead". It is recommended to drink it from 2025 onwards. To allow its complex aromas and flavors to unfold, it is advisable to decant the wine for at least two hours in advance. This is a wine for serious collectors and special occasions, promising significant evolution with further cellaring.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jamet is a renowned wine producer located in Ampuis, at the heart of the northern Rhône wine region in France, celebrated for its traditional Cote Rotie wines. The estate spans about seven hectares (17 acres) of vineyards, scattered across small plots in the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde areas of Côte Rotie. Predominantly, the vineyards are planted with Syrah, complemented by minor plantings of Marsanne, Viognier, and Roussanne. Founded by Joseph Jamet in 1950. By 1976, Domaine Jamet started bottling its own wines. After Joseph retired, his sons Jean-Luc and Jean-Paul ran the estate. Currently, Jean-Paul and Corinne Jamet oversee the domaine, joined by their son Loïc since 2015.
