🏰 The 2002 vintage in the Northern Rhône was generally considered challenging, often overshadowed by more celebrated years. However, top producers like Guigal consistently craft excellent wines even in difficult vintages. Chateau d'Ampuis is a blend of Syrah (93%) and Viognier (7%), aged in new barriques for 36 months. While specific 2002 tasting notes are less prevalent, Guigal's Chateau d'Ampuis typically offers a complex profile of dark fruits (blackberry, cassis), spices (black pepper, licorice), smoked meats, and floral notes (violet) from the Viognier. The 2002 might present as a more savory, earthy, and perhaps leaner expression compared to warmer vintages, with firm tannins and good acidity, showcasing a classic Northern Rhône character. 【 來自知名酒莊的經典北隆河希哈,展現成熟Côte-Rôtie的鹹鮮複雜性 】.
🍴 This mature Northern Rhône Syrah is an excellent match for roasted lamb, gamey meats, braised beef, and aged cheeses.
🥂 Likely in a good drinking window now, offering complexity and savory notes, this wine is suitable for a dinner with robust flavors.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
