FEATURES
🏰 The 2019 Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild comes from a Bordeaux vintage marked by a remarkable harmony of climatic conditions, resulting in grapes of outstanding quality. The wines are very rich, deeply colored, with good alcohol content and close-knit, satin-smooth tannins. This second wine is deep garnet-purple, offering alluring scents of baked blackberries, blackcurrant cordial, juicy plums, menthol, pencil lead, and crushed rocks. The complex nose also reveals black fruit, chocolate, and roasted coffee-bean aromas. On the palate, it's fresh with red fruit and toast flavors, underpinned by crisp yet silky tannins and a touch of licorice, leading to an attractively long finish. Critics praise its depth and density, often noting it rivals many vintages of the Grand Vin. 【An exceptionally deep and dense second wine from a First Growth estate, often rivaling many vintages of the Grand Vin.】
🍴 This powerful and elegant Bordeaux is an ideal match for classic meat dishes such as roasted beef, lamb, duck, or game. It also pairs well with rich stews and mature hard cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a significant dinner, a celebration, or for collectors looking to enjoy a high-quality second wine with excellent aging potential. Young vintages benefit from a healthy decant of 3-6 hours to allow the wine to soften and open its perfume.
BACKGROUND
Château Mouton Rothschild is located in the commune of Pauillac, in the Medoc, 30 miles (50km) northwest of the city of Bordeaux. The estate comprises 90 hectares (222 acres) of vineyards, mainly on gravel-based soils, and is situated in the northern part of the commune just south of Château Lafite Rothschild. Most of the vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15 percent planted to Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vineyard, typically for top Medoc estates, is densely planted and the average vine age is more than 40 years old. Harvest is done by hand, and the juice is fermented in oak vats in a gravity-fed vat room opened in 2012. After fermentation, the wine sees 22 months in new oak before bottling.
