FEATURES
The 2017 Roagna Barolo Pira is a powerful, intensely savory wine from the historic Pira vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. This traditional expression of Nebbiolo is crafted using old-school methods, reflecting the unique terroir of the region. The vintage generally produced wines that are dense and muscular, with cherry, strawberry, rose, mineral, and eucalyptus flavors in the grip of assertive tannins. Despite being lithe and light-bodied, this red finds equilibrium, with red fruit lingering on the finish. Aromas include rose petals, cherry, red currant, licorice, sandalwood, and graphite. The palate offers cherry, sweet red fruits, spice, orange peel, and menthol with silky ripe tannins and vivid acidity. It has a long and savory finish with excellent balance and finesse. While enjoyable now, it is best consumed from 2026 to 2047 to allow full maturation and complexity. 【Roagna's commitment to long maceration times (60-75 days) and aging in large neutral oak barrels for about five years ensures depth and longevity】.
🍴 This Barolo pairs beautifully with robust dishes such as braised lamb, venison, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses, or rich pasta dishes. Traditional Piedmontese pairings include Brasato al Barolo (braised veal or wild boar) and truffle dishes.
🥂 An excellent choice for a significant celebration, a formal dinner, or a serious wine tasting event, especially when paired with hearty, rich cuisine.
