FEATURES
The 2014 vintage for Champagne was a challenging yet ultimately successful year. A warm, dry spring provided a good start, but July and August brought cool, wet conditions. Fortunately, a benign September with warm, dry weather saved the harvest, allowing grapes to ripen. Chardonnay performed particularly well, and some good Pinot Noir emerged from Montagne de Reims. The resulting wines are generally brightly fruity and fresh, with classically lean structures and appealing lightness.
Georges Laval is a Premier Cru estate renowned for its biodynamic practices and commitment to expressing pure terroir. The 2014 Les Longues Violes is a Blanc de Noirs, a blend of Pinot Meunier (planted 1947) and Pinot Noir (planted 1964 and 1984) from a legendary vineyard. This cuvée was disgorged in March 2024 after an impressive nine years on lees, contributing to its remarkable depth, silky texture, and a long, pure, and precise finish. It presents a soft golden yellow color with brilliant, fine, and persistent bubbles. The nose is complex and deep, offering delicate red fruits, ripe citrus, fine brioche, and chalky minerality, evolving to herbal, toast, orchard fruit, spice, flowers, and light nutty overtones. The palate delivers an incisive attack, lively acidity, fine texture, and marked salinity, with flavors of ripe fruit, citrus zest, and wet stone, showcasing both power and delicacy.
🍴 This champagne is perfect for fine dining, pairing exquisitely with noble or iodine-rich dishes. Consider appetizers like flat oysters, scallop carpaccio, or langoustine tartare. For main courses, butter-roasted lobster, turbot with champagne, or free-range poultry with citrus fruits are excellent. It also complements roast veal chop with black truffle jus, Breton lobster Thermidor, pan-seared foie gras with citrus chutney, or aged Comté cheese.
🥂 Ideal for special celebrations and fine dining where a complex, pure, and terroir-driven Champagne is desired. It's a rare and exquisite treat for connoisseurs who appreciate organic, vintage Champagne with significant aging on lees and no dosage. Serve between 8 and 10°C; a gentle decanting may be considered to reveal its full aromatic complexity. 【Rare Premier Cru Brut Nature Champagne with 9 years on lees, showcasing pure terroir from biodynamic farming】
