🏰 The 2023 Auguste Clape Cornas, from a legendary producer known for 【Syrah in its purest and most untamed form】, promises to be an approachable vintage despite a challenging growing season. The Northern Rhône in 2023 experienced varied weather, including a wet spring and an intense August heatwave, but ultimately yielded poised wines with freshness and concentration. While specific tasting notes for this nascent vintage are scarce, expect the classic Clape profile: dark, meaty, and wild, with layers of black olive, violets, iron, and cracked pepper, underpinned by a coiled core of minerality and tannic structure.
🍴 This powerful Syrah demands robust food pairings. Think grilled steak with peppercorn sauce, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, game birds, or rich stews. It also stands up beautifully to aged, firm cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a hearty winter dinner, a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts, or a special occasion where a bold and characterful red is desired. This wine is built for the cellar but will offer immense pleasure with decanting in its youth.
