Bruyere Et Houillon, Arbois Blanc Les Tourillons, 2020
Bruyère et Houillon is a highly revered estate in Jura, founded in 2011 by Renaud Bruyère and Adeline Houillon. They are known for producing exquisite, deeply site-sensitive, and highly sought-after natural Jura wines in very limited quantities from their small, biodynamically farmed holdings across Pupillin and Arbois. Adeline Houillon, sister of Emmanuel Houillon, and Renaud Bruyère both gained experience at Jura's leading estates, including Domaine Pierre Overnoy and Domaine Tissot. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes utmost respect for terroir, with minimal intervention in the cellar, including spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, and little to no added sulfur. The 2020 vintage in Jura was generally considered good, with a balance of ripeness and freshness. Their Arbois Blanc Les Tourillons is made from Chardonnay grapes grown on clay and limestone soils. The wines are described as pure, energetic, and full of life, faithfully expressing Jura's unique terroirs. 【Highly sought-after, biodynamic Jura wines with exceptional purity and energy】.
🍴 Food Pairing: Jura white wines, especially Chardonnay-based ones, are versatile. They pair well with Comté cheese, traditional Jura dishes like Coq au Vin Jaune, and freshwater fish. Consider serving with roasted chicken, creamy mushroom dishes, or even some lighter charcuterie. Its bright acidity and mineral notes would also complement seafood platters.
🥂 Event Suggestions: This wine is perfect for enthusiasts of natural and biodynamic wines, a special dinner showcasing regional French cuisine, or as a unique offering at a wine tasting event. Its distinctive character makes it a conversation starter.
BACKGROUND
Renaud Bruyere and Adeline Houillon are cult natural winemakers in the Jura region. Working with minimal intervention and zero added sulfur, their wines are highly sought after. Les Tourillons is a complex, oxidative-leaning white wine offering notes of bruised apple, nuts, and intense saline minerality.
