FEATURES
The 2018 Clos de Tart Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Forge is a compelling expression from one of Burgundy's most historic and prestigious monopole estates, Clos de Tart, established in 1141. La Forge de Tart serves as the estate's Premier Cru offering, often crafted from younger vines, yet it consistently delivers serious quality and has garnered a reputation for excellence, frequently receiving 90+ point scores from critics. The 2018 vintage itself was noted as ripe, balanced, and successful. Under the guidance of winemaker Alessandro Noli, the estate is evolving towards wines of greater finesse and nerve, moving away from some of the more extracted styles of the past.
This Pinot Noir displays a ripe, clear purple hue. The bouquet is warmly inviting, showcasing ripe yet unexaggerated fruit, with touches of caramel-edged oak that integrate beautifully as the wine opens. Expect tons of blueberry and raspberry fruit, complemented by dark berry aromas, plum, cassis, spice, and violet notes. On the palate, it's fresh, appealing, and silky with edges of steel, offering a sensual experience with a harmonious weight of oak. It boasts a thickish texture, good acidity, and a long, lightly toasted finish, with velvet-textured flavors, good depth, and persistence.
This elegant Pinot Noir is incredibly versatile for food pairings. It shines with roasted duck, grilled salmon, and mushroom risotto. Its vibrant acidity and refined tannins make it an excellent match for game birds, pork tenderloin, and aged cheeses like Comté and Époisses. Red meats and soft cheeses are also highly recommended.
The 2018 La Forge de Tart has excellent cellaring potential, rewarding patience over the next decade or more. To fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and nuanced flavors, decanting for 30 minutes to an hour is recommended, and it should be served at 14°C to 16°C (57°F to 61°F) in large Burgundy glasses. It's a serious wine perfect for fine dining and special occasions. 【Effectively the second wine of the legendary Clos de Tart Grand Cru Monopole, offering serious quality and aging potential from a historic Burgundy estate】.
