🏰 Domaine Leflaive is a legendary Burgundy estate, known for trailblazing organic and biodynamic practices. Their Mâcon-Verzé offers an accessible entry point to their exceptional quality. The 2019 vintage for white Burgundy was generally very good, offering wines with both richness and freshness. Leflaive's Mâcon-Verzé comes from estate Chardonnay parcels in Verzé, where biodynamic farming is practiced. It's described as tasting like Macon but from a Puligny producer: pure, floral, mineral, and full of life. The 2018 Mâcon-Verzé (closest available vintage) showed a floral-inflected nose with citrusy white orchard fruit and a petrol top note. The palate is caressing and succulent, with an attractive mouthfeel leading to a delicious, dry finale. The 2019 vintage is expected to share these characteristics, offering a buttery and complex style. 【Accessible entry point to the legendary quality of Domaine Leflaive, showcasing pure, floral, and mineral-driven Mâconnais Chardonnay】.
🍴 This versatile white Burgundy goes well with cheeses, fish, or shellfish. Chicken and turkey are also good pairings. Its vibrant citrus and mineral notes complement lighter seafood dishes, salads, and goat cheese. The subtle creaminess and richness also work with roasted chicken or creamy pasta dishes.
🥂 A versatile white Burgundy suitable for everyday enjoyment, casual gatherings, or as an introduction to the quality of Domaine Leflaive. It's approachable in its youth but can also develop with age.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Leflaive, located in Puligny-Montrachet, is one of the most important producers of Côte de Beaune. The domaine focuses almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay, producing four Grand Cru wines in Puligny-Montrachet and four Premier Cru wines in Chevalier-Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet and Bienvenues -Batard-Montrachet owns the land and makes grand cru wines in each region. Beyond this there are several Premier Cru wines, the most important of which is probably Les Clavoillon, one of the wines included in the 1976 Paris Judging.
