FEATURES
The 2022 Hoffmann Jayer Echezeaux du Dessus Grand Cru hails from a prestigious 0.54-hectare plot in Burgundy, famously once part of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in the 1960s. Winemaker Alexandre Jayer employs a philosophy of long élevage and reduced sulfur during the aging process, believing it enhances the wine's purity. The vines, averaging 55 years old, are cultivated using uncertified organic viticulture.
Tasting notes describe a wider, more airy aromatic profile that is beautifully perfumed, showcasing extra structure and a wonderfully delicious complexity that expands broadly. The wine presents a dark, dense ruby color. Aromas are dominated by black fruit, notes of violets and peonies, with sweet spice and a complex, meaty character emerging with oxygenation. On the palate, it is big, bold, and muscular, very rich in the mid-palate, with the aromatics persisting through a well-structured finish.
