FEATURES
The 2015 vintage for Clos de l'Oratoire in Saint-Émilion was exceptional, marked by a warm and sunny growing season. A long heatwave and dry spell were perfectly balanced by "miraculous rains" in August, ensuring optimal ripeness for the grapes. Harvest in September under clear skies allowed for precise picking, contributing to what is considered one of Bordeaux's greatest vintages. This seductive red wine, a blend predominantly of Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcases pronounced fruity aromas and a beautiful deep crimson color. On the nose, expect notes of bark, blackberries, currants, basil leaf, lavender, and sage. The palate is full-bodied with integrated, ultra-fine tannins, offering a rich, layered, and flavorful finish with hints of crushed plum, cassis, and red licorice, bright chalky minerality, and a lovely floral lift. Some reviewers also note developing secondary notes of truffle, tobacco, flowers, and earth. 【Rated 94-95 points by multiple critics, including James Suckling and Wine Spectator, for its elegance and aging potential.】
Food pairing suggestions: This versatile wine pairs beautifully with a wide range of classic meat dishes, such as roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck, or veal. It also complements rich fish like tuna, mushroom-based dishes, and various pasta preparations.
Event suggestions: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory meal, or any special occasion where a rich, elegant, and age-worthy red Bordeaux is desired. While enjoyable now, decanting for 1-2 hours when young is recommended to allow its full complexity to unfold. It is expected to drink best from 2023 through 2035.
