The 2001 Bond St. Eden marks the debut vintage for this esteemed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, an offshoot from the renowned Harlan Estate. Sourced from an 11-acre rocky knoll just north of the Oakville Crossroad, its red rocky soil originates from the high Vaca Mountains. This vintage reliably showcases great focus, an opulent 'sweet' center, and notes of crème de cassis, dark chocolate, and roasted herbs. On the palate, it is mineral-tinged and broad, with fine-grained tannins and a lush concentration. Robert Parker awarded this wine a perfect 100 points, describing it as "utterly perfect" with a remarkably perfumed nose of crushed rocks, subtle barbecue smoke, cedar wood, crème de cassis, and blackberry, leading to a phenomenally concentrated mouthfeel and voluptuous texture. Jeff Leve also noted a finesse style with smoke, blackberry, earth, charcoal, tobacco, and a fresh, sensuous finish of spice, earth, and black cherry liqueur.
🍴 Food Pairing: This bold and structured Cabernet Sauvignon is an ideal match for rich dishes such as beef and venison.
🥂 Event Suggestions: A truly collectible wine, the 2001 St. Eden is perfect for celebrating significant milestones, a luxurious fine dining experience, or for those looking to add a prestigious bottle to their cellar, as it will continue to benefit from another 5-10 years of cellaring and can keep for an additional 25-30 years.
