🏰news | features + short tasting note IN ENGLISH
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé's 2020 Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is a highly anticipated release, marking the final vintage vinified by the esteemed François Millet, and is celebrated for its exceptional purity and depth from mature vines. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy showed promise with good balance between sugar and acidity. This particular wine, from mature vines (40+ years old) in the domaine's significant 5.56ha holding, offers a youthful, plummy exuberance typical of Chambolle, but with added precision and depth. It reveals saline mineral notes, hints of flowers and spice, and a silky texture that balances a firm structure and long finish. Aged in 35% new oak, it maintains admirable fruit purity. Expect a lucid ruby/purple color, with opulent and ripe notes of 【cassis, boysenberry jam, crushed violet, and iodine】. The palate is medium-bodied with iodine-tinged black fruit, offering a bold, assertive character that coats the mouth. While firm and tannic in its youth, it promises to develop grace and intellect with bottle age.

This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine. Think roasted duck, game birds, or a delicate veal dish. Its complexity also makes it a superb match for truffle-infused risottos or aged Comte cheese.
