FEATURES
The Antinori Le Mortelle Poggio alle Nane 2017 hails from the Le Mortelle estate in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a region where the Antinori family has held land since 1863. The 2017 vintage experienced a mild winter, a warm and dry spring, and a hot summer, yet abundant groundwater resources from spring rains prevented water stress. Cooler temperatures and significant day-night temperature swings in late August were crucial for enhancing the grapes' aromatic profile. The harvest commenced in the second week of September with Cabernet Franc, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon, and concluded in early October with Carménère, each contributing distinct characteristics to the blend.
This wine presents a deep red color. The nose is complex and aromatic, featuring ripe black berry fruit, mountain herbs, black currants, thyme, liquorice, violets, balsamic, floral notes, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is rich, elegant, and potent, with lovely silky tannins and a long, persistent finish. Notes of bitter chocolate, wild cherries, and tobacco are also discernible. Natalie MacLean describes it as a beautifully crafted Tuscan red with ripe dark fruits, raspberry, cassis, mocha, thyme, and savory herbs, balanced by velvety tannins. 【Blend of finest Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carménère from a unique terroir】
