FEATURES
The 1990 vintage in Burgundy was a legendary year, particularly for white wines. After a mild winter and a cool, wet spring, July brought a very hot and dry summer, with beneficial rains in late August and September. Domaine des Comtes Lafon's Meursault Charmes 1er Cru from 1990 is a deep and complex wine, still remarkably fresh, youthful, and lively. It offers exciting notes of honey, citrus, toasted spice, and wet soil, with a distinctive terroir character. The wine has a chewy, almost sand-like texture and a long finish. Other tasting notes mention dried apricot, hazelnut, caramel, maltose, honeysuckle, custard, and ripe yellow fruit, with good tension and the characteristic Lafon richness. It's described as having a flamboyant, oily aroma of roasted white fruits, lychee, oak spice, and marzipan, with a big, oily, ripe, and sweet palate. 【Legendary vintage quality】. Given its age, this wine should be handled with care. Older corks can be fragile, so consider using an 'Ah-So' wine opener to prevent crumbling. Decanting is generally not required for older white wines, but if there's sediment or you wish to allow it to open up, a short decant (30-60 minutes) might be beneficial. Serve it slightly cooler than room temperature, around 12-15°C (55-60°F), to allow its complexities to shine without being masked by excessive cold.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include shellfish, pasta, rich fish (like salmon or tuna), mild and soft cheese, and cured meats.
🥂 Event suggestions: A special anniversary, a milestone birthday, or a sophisticated dinner for connoisseurs who appreciate the beauty of aged white Burgundy.
