FEATURES
Domaine Fabien Coche, formerly known as Coche-Bizouard, is a highly regarded yet often underrated producer in Burgundy. Fabien Coche, the great-grandson of Léon Coche and cousin of Raphaël Coche-Dury, took the helm in 2005. The estate has been practicing organic farming since 1998, achieving certification in 2023, with many of their vines boasting over 60 years of age. The Meursault Les Chevalières vineyard is situated just above the village of Meursault, at an altitude similar to the Premier Crus further south, and its cooler site contributes to the wine's enhanced acidity and lift.
The 2020 Meursault Les Chevalières is described as an opulent wine with a rich nose of honey, oak, butter, white peaches, and almonds, complemented by hints of lemon. On the palate, it showcases a remarkable balance between richness and acidity, revealing notes of rich honey, almonds, white peaches, chrysanthemum tea, flowers, minerality, and salinity. Some tasters also note butter, cream, flora, and citrus, with the wine showing significant improvement with age. This is a deep and rich wine, demonstrating clear old vine intensity. 【Underrated, high-quality Meursault from a legendary family branch, offering exceptional value compared to its famous cousin Coche-Dury.】
Food pairing suggestions: While specific pairings for the 2020 vintage are not explicitly detailed, Meursault wines generally excel with shellfish, pasta, rich fish like salmon or tuna, mild and soft cheeses, and cured meats.
Event suggestions: This fabulous village Meursault, with its significant intensity and character, is an excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or for those who appreciate wines that reward patience in the cellar.
