The 2024 Coche Dury Meursault Rouge is a highly anticipated future vintage from a producer primarily celebrated for its world-renowned white Meursault wines. While Meursault is predominantly known for Chardonnay, Coche-Dury does indeed produce a distinctive Pinot Noir-based Meursault Rouge. As a 2024 vintage, specific tasting notes and detailed vintage reports are not yet available. However, early insights into the 2024 Burgundy vintage suggest it will be a "beautiful vintage" for reds, offering more concentration than 2010, with the freshness and fruit characteristics of 2017, and a touch of 2016's coolness. Yields were noted as heterogeneous, with grapes being light and having less juice. For context, previous vintages of Coche-Dury Meursault Rouge have been described with perfumed bouquets featuring floral and red fruit tones, fine delineation, a crisp entry, crunchy red fruit, fine minerality, and a vivid, graphite-tinged finish. Some vintages may benefit from decanting due to initial reduction on the nose.
Food pairing suggestions: Based on the Pinot Noir grape and the style of Coche-Dury's red Burgundy, this wine would pair excellently with beef, veal, and various game dishes such as deer, roe deer, duck, goose, and other game birds.
Event suggestions: As a pre-arrival offering, the 2024 Coche Dury Meursault Rouge is an ideal acquisition for collectors and enthusiasts looking to cellar a prestigious Burgundy red. While the 2024 reds are noted as elegant and not necessarily for very long aging compared to whites, they will certainly be suitable for special future occasions and fine dining experiences.
