FEATURES
The 2009 Agricola Punica Barrua Isola dei Nuraghi IGT is an opulent, mature masterwork from a legendary Italian winemaking partnership, established in 2002 as a joint venture between Sebastiano Rosa, Cantina di Santadi, Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia), and consulting enologist Giacomo Tachis. Tachis recognized the Sulcis terroir in southwest Sardinia as ideal for producing a world-class grand vin based on old-vine Carignano. The 2009 vintage was excellent for much of the wine world, including France, and this Barrua is primarily crafted from old-vine Carignano grown on sun-drenched, mineral-rich soils. Aging in French oak barriques contributes to its velvety Mediterranean power. Tasting notes describe an expressive bouquet of ripe black currant, dark plum compote, cigar box, and truffled earth, with undertones of leather, game, graphite, cedar pencil, and smoked herbs. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, offering generous dark-fruit depth, melted tannins, and balanced acidity. The finish is long, with savory warmth, sweet fruit purity, and classic Mediterranean poise. Other notes mention blackberry, kirsch, plum, raspberry ganache, tobacco, and herbal undertones, with creamy, mouthfilling tannins. 【Considered a peak of aged Sardinian collecting, especially in magnum format】.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include beef, venison, Italian cuisine, beef stifado, lamb schwarma, venison curry, and Mimolette cheese.
🥂 This wine is a magnificent centerpiece for celebratory feasts, a sophisticated choice for a special Italian dinner, or an excellent option for a wine collector's tasting event.
